The band has collaborated with artist Ragnar Kjartansson to produce  an art installation called “A Lot Of Sorrow.”

They will perform “Sorrow” for six hours at Moma PS1 in Long Island City, New York on May 5 from 12pm-6pm.

A press release from the gallery reads:

“By stretching a single pop song into a day-long tour de force the artist continues his explorations into the potential of repetitive performance to produce sculptural presence within sound.

As in all of Kjartansson’s performances, the idea behind A Lot of Sorrow is devoid of irony, yet full of humour and emotion. It is another quest to find the comic in the tragic and vice versa.”

In other news, Bryce Dessner will be performing with Eighth Blackbird and Nico Muhly at the Museum of Contemporary Art April 30-May 1. More information and tickets can be found HERE

The film, called Mistaken For Strangers, was directed by Matt Berninger’s brother, Tom Berninger. It will premiere in New York at the Tribeca Film Festival April 17. A live performance by The National will follow.

“We’re really happy to premiere this movie at Tribeca, as New York has been home to us for these past 15 years,” Matt Berninger said. “I was happy to give my brother whatever access he needed. I just didn’t expect this movie to include shower scenes.”

Tom Berninger added: “When my brother asked me along on tour as a roadie, I thought I might as well bring a camera to film the experience. What started as a pretty modest tour documentary has, over the last two and a half years, grown into something much more personal, and hopefully more entertaining.”
